Esperanto Condensed Course by Ed Robertson(8 booklets comprising 146 pages, ?10 inc. p&p, presented in a neat wallet together with a free Esperanto pen!) This new course, just published by the Scottish Esperanto Association, aims to cover the whole of Esperanto's grammar in just six lessons. The course includes the lessons themselves, plus a booklet giving all the vocabulary covered in the course, and another booklet containing background information on the history of Esperanto, a pronunciation guide, the grammar of Esperanto (not just the 16 rules!), and a glossary of grammatical terms. This booklet also contains details of the three assignments to be submitted by the student, because the course also includes tutor assistance and feedback by post. In fact, the author manages to cover all of Esperanto grammar in the first 5 lessons and the 6th lesson is devoted to a series of reading passages of Esperanto literature (both original and translated) from around the world, to build on the student's knowledge. The course is suitable both for complete beginners (especially those who may have tried to learn other languages before), or for people who already know some Esperanto. It is up to date in its approach and includes exercises on every new point encountered. Despite the condensed nature, it really is comprehensive and even includes full information on topics like converting between root categories, aspect, voice, necessity and sufficiency, the use of po, how rule 15 works and all sorts of other things that are usually glossed over in material for beginners.
