None of the existing web courses are perfect; but it is certainly possible to learn the language by means of them if you are motivated!

Esperanto Viva!

This is a 10 lesson course which endeavours to relate the material to Esperanto culture and the Esperanto community.

It is a hugely ambitious enterprise existing in many language, although the primary course is in English.

Esperanto Viva! is certainly worth trying. The author still regards it as a beta product and will welcome comments from learners if they have approached the course with diligence.

Why not give it a try? For maximum enjoyment make sure that you have downloaded Esperanto characters.

 Esperanto for English Speakers

This is an American course; it is austere in appearance, but has been widely used for Esperanto courses in New York The author's practical teaching experience is evident.

The approach is unusual and attempts to exploit the unique qualities of Esperanto.

Download the whole course (it is not big) and work your way through it at your leisure!

 Other Web Courses

 Esperanto for Travellers

Useful phrases rather than a course; but Esperanto and travel go together!

 16 Rules of Esperanto Grammar

http://www.webcom.com/~donh/Esperanto/rules.html

This is a commentary and amplification of the rules which are the building blocks of Esperanto. There are other rules, of course; but Zamenhof brilliantly summarised the language by his statement of 16 cardinal principles.

 Basic Esperanto-English Vocabulary

http://www.btinternet.com/~wgtwalker/eo/vortlist/gcselist.htm

This vocabulary comes from the GCSE in Esperanto which unfortunately is no longer offered: a fate shared by other smaller languages in the UK language desert.

 Kurso de Esperanto

http://www.cursodeesperanto.com.br/en/index.html

This is an English version of a course which comes from Brazil; it is modern and attractive. The occasional infelicities in the English explanations will not detract from its linguistic excellence. The whole course can be downloaded.
