Defending Esperanto

Esperanto, even after almost 120 years of existence, is still frequently misunderstood or even maligned.

This sub-section of the web site of the Scottish Esperanto Association will attempt by means of (eventually!) a rich selection of articles to dispel some of the negativity which often results when Esperanto is discussed.

The articles will not be fanatical: nothing (even Esperanto) produced by human beings is perfect. However, the language which Zamenhof devised has extraordinary qualities which are not widely understood even by professional students of linguistics.

Most of the articles will be in English; but some will be in Esperanto when the points made have particular relevance for those who use the language. We also think, although this sub-site is not didactic, that Esperanto text can be understood to some extent by considerable numbers of people.

Hopefully it will be demonstrated that Esperanto apologetics is intellectually respectable and by no means tedious!

Oni provas defendi Esperanton inteligente, interese kaj ne-fanatike!
