Aalen Prize for Bill AuldBill Auld has just received this prestigious award; it is a further accolade for our most outstanding writer. Unfortunately he was unable to go to Germany in person to receive the Prize; but Michael Scherm, the President of the German section of ILEI accepted it on his behalf. The Oration was given by Dr. Werner Bormann, former President of the Academy of Esperanto. His speech was in German because of the many dignitaries who were in attendance; he covered all facets of Bills outstanding literary career. Bill Aulds works are well represented in the Aalen Public Library which has a specialist Esperanto collection. The Mayor expressed pleasure as he browsed through the examples of Aulds work which were on display, and indicated that to have been a Nobel Prize candidate was an extraordinary achievement. The Nobel Prize was won by the German author Gunter Grass; but German Esperantists feel that they have been doubly honoured! Based upon a report by Adolf Burkhardt
