Professor Nisbet died in a Glasgow Nursing Home on the 25^th February 2004.

He was one of the stars in the Scottish Esperanto firmament: a brilliant translator of Scottish literature, a lecturer on many themes, the author of Esperanto teaching aids and a famous booklet about the language.

Stanley (he preferred his first name to be used) was Hon. President of the Glasgow Esperanto Society.

He was characterised by erudition and humility: a rare combination in the contemporary world.
