Final Stage of Wedgwood Negotiations? The AGM of the Esperanto Association of Britain, which took place in London on 31st March, unanimously approved the legal agreement reached between the Associations solicitor and the City of Stoke-on-Trent concerning the long anticipated move to Wedgwood Memorial College, Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent. . Bill Walker, the chief negotiator, gave a lucid explanation of the clauses in the contract. This was supplemented by further clarifications from Dr Derek Tatton, the Principal of Wedgwood Memorial College. The Trustees of EAB must now study the contract and then vote upon it formally. The vote will take place prior to 10th April. The statement from the Associations solicitor, indicating that the contract incorporates all the requirements of EAB, is most encouraging. The Office of EAB is about to move to temporary accommodation at Wedgwood Memorial College within the next few days. It will take about five months to complete the permanent accommodation at Wedgwood, which will include an Office, Library and 3 bedrooms. EAB being established within a college of adult education has positive implications for EAS which works in close association with the British organisation. David W. Bisset 06/04/2001 |
