William Auld Collection now available for consultation

The private library of the famous Scottish Esperantist, William Auld, which was accepted by the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh as a Special Collection, is now available for public consultation. It is possible to obtain a short-term ticket (valid for four weeks) from the National Library on arrival, although those who will be involved in protracted study of the Collection are advised to seek permission for frequent visits.

The Collection numbers almost 5000 volumes, and is strong in original and translated Esperanto publications. As a result of accepting William Auld?s gift, the National Library of Scotland has one of the most important Esperanto collections in the world.

A list of the Collection is available in PDF-format. It is arranged under broad categories with detailed bibliographic descriptions. In due course it will be integrated with the on-line catalogue.

William Auld also donated extensive runs of Esperanto periodicals; they await future listing.
